Day 1: Marrakech – Tizi n’Tichka Pass – Ouarzazate – Skoura – Valley of Roses
Your 4-day private tour from Marrakech to Merzouga via Ait Ben Haddou, Dades & Draa Valley begins at 8:00 AM with pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi n’Tichka Pass at 2,260 meters. Along the way, you’ll have stops for photos and views of traditional Berber villages.
Arrive in Ouarzazate for lunch, then continue to Skoura, known for its palm groves and historic kasbahs. Visit Kasbah Amridil, a well-preserved example of southern Moroccan architecture, followed by a walk among the palm trees. Travel to the Valley of Roses, known for rose cultivation and traditional homes built from earth and clay. Walk through the valley and nearby villages before settling in for dinner and overnight at a local hotel.
Day 2: Valley of Roses – Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
After your breakfast, drive to the Dades Gorges, where you can walk through the Valley of Figs and see rock formations created by natural forces over time. Then continue to the Todra Gorges near Tinghir, where you’ll take a walk along the river between high cliff walls. Continue through the towns of Tinjdad and Erfoud, known for fossils and local crafts. Pass by Rissani, once the capital of the Tafilalet region and the birthplace of Morocco’s ruling dynasty.
In the afternoon, arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara Desert. Take a camel ride or walk to your desert camp. Watch the sunset over the dunes and enjoy a traditional dinner, music, and an overnight stay in a nomad-style tent.
Day 3: Merzouga – Rissani – Tazarine – Nkoub – Draa Valley – Ouarzazate
Start the day early to see the sunrise over the desert dunes. After breakfast, leave the Merzouga area and pass through Rissani, then continue toward Nkoub, crossing the Bougafer mountain range. Stop in Nkoub for lunch in a quiet village known for its kasbahs and relaxed pace.
In the afternoon, follow the Draa Valley, known for its long stretches of palm trees, fortified villages, and ancient irrigation systems. Stop for a walk in one of the small villages or palm groves before continuing to Ouarzazate, where you will have dinner and spend the night in a riad or guesthouse.
Day 4: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Telouet – Marrakech
After breakfast, visit Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This fortified village has appeared in many films and series, and a guided walk will help you explore its mudbrick homes and narrow streets.
